Autumn Apple black tea review

Flavored black tea
Margaret's Fine Imports
www.pittsburghcuppa.com
$3.50/2 oz

Ingredients: Black tea, apple pieces, cinnamon, blackberry leaves, safflower petals, natural flavors.

The smell of this dry tea is so pleasant! Light apple with fall spice. After steeping, the cinnamon flavor really steps forward, making the smell and taste a dominance of apple and cinnamon. Thankfully, the apple and cinnamon are checked by the neutral black tea.

It has a very light level of caffeine, nice for a fall morning. I used a few sugar crystals because the tea can tend to get bitter quickly because of the apple. I don't think milk would work in this tea because of the fruit.

Drink this quickly because the flavor changes drastically when it loses heat and gets to room temperature (*looks over sadly at my almost-empty cup*). Also, while it was worth a try iced, the cinnamon became too overpowering for me, so I'll stick to drinking it hot. Great for breakfast and afternoon, too.

This appears to be a limited offering at Margaret's, since it was hidden in the prepackaged bags and not proclaimed from a large glass jar. Glad I stumbled across it!

Hot: 2 min, 2.25-2.5 tsp tea, 8 oz water
Iced: 20 sec, 3 tsp tea, 8 oz water over ice

Large, beautiful pieces of fruit among the black tea.

The fruit really expands and takes on water.

What is this crazy thing I found in the tea! A tea creature. Bonus, it matches my rug. Double bonus, you sort of know what my cat looks like.

Come back next Monday for a slice of heaven, Game of Thrones style (yes, there is more than doom in A Game of Thrones).
